All American Olympian

Last month it was my pleasure to watch Debbie Nelson and her staff welcome back AASA Alum and 2020 Olympian Bubba Nickles. My daughter had trained with Bubba at a Nike Camp previously, so the opportunity to work up close in person with her at All American had her very excited. Bubba did NOT disappoint! The following is a brief write up on that experience.

My first question for Bubba was about her unique experiences with AASA prior to her heading to UCLA. See that answer in this first video – our conversation continues below.

Next I wanted to know how Bubba feels about professional softball. While there is a professional league, it has struggled for attention.

Bubba discusses its viability, and the need for a true professional league with salaries that allow the athletes to be salaried professionals.

Finally, I ask Bubba which is a better watch, Softball or Baseball? I enjoyed her response, and have to say that I agree!
Lastly, a glimpse of the skills she was demonstrating to the girls. Check out the footwork and her skill with the glove!

In the end it was all too brief… every girl left this training with a smile on her face, and the seed of a dream of competing on the world stage at the highest level. It was endearing, engaging and empowering.

We look forward to cheering you on this summer Bubba!
